Christian Businesses From Home: ABCs for the Work at Home Mom - Part 2

Christian Businesses From Home: ABCs for the Work at Home Mom - Part 2
By: Jill Hart
Work-at-home moms face many different challenges. From learning to accept help when needed, to building confidence in ourselves, to remembering the reasons why we chose to work from home. Below is the second in the series of tips to help work-at-home moms in the simplest of ways - the ABC's.

N = No - Work at Home Moms need to be able to say "No" when the situation calls for it. Don't be afraid to stand up for your business or to choose NOT to work with a customer who is more trouble than it's worth.

O = Office - As Work at Home Moms, we usually put ourselves last on the list. However, when we're in business it's important to have some room (even a corner) that is set aside strictly for business.

P = Priorities - It's hard to keep your priorities straight when raising a family and building a business. Take some time each week/month to sit down and evaluate your priorities and cut out things in your schedule that don't fit in.

Q = Quiet Time - It may seem impossible to find a time to sit, relax and be quiet when you have so many demands on your time. However, it's more important than ever that you take a little time for yourself to rejuvenate and renew when you grow weary.

R = Respect - Like the golden rule says, it's important to treat others as we'd like to be treated. This is so true for work at home moms - we must show the utmost in professionalism and treat even the most difficult clients with respect.

S = Significant Other - As work at home moms it's easy to get wrapped up with our business, our kids, ourselves. Don't forget to take the time to appreciate your husbands!

T = Time - As work-home-moms time is the ultimate enemy. :) Learn to prioritize and delegate whenever possible. Take time out for your kids each day - you'll be glad you did!

U = Unique - Your business needs to be unique to stand out from the crowd. Even if your product isn't unique you can always find a unique way to approach marketing, customer service, etc. Get creative and stand out from the rest!

V = Vision - It's so important to have a clear vision of where you want your business to go. Sit down and make a list of where you'd like to be in 5 years, in 10 years, etc. Without goals you won't get anywhere.

W = Wisdom - It's important to seek wisdom when running your own business. You won't always know the answer, so you need to find others that you trust that you can turn to when these things arise.

X = eXcitement - Celebrate each success! Keep yourself motivated and excited about your business. Try to share your business with someone new each day. Just telling someone about what you do can bring back that "spark" of excitement about your career!

Y = Yes - Yes! You CAN do it! Each of us started with a dream, a vision and the faith that we could make it happen. It takes hard work, determination and a "Yes!" attitude, but it CAN be done!

Z = Zoo - Yes, life as a work at home mom really is a zoo, but it's worth it! Being at home to see your child's first step, hear their first word - it just doesn't get better than that.

Working from home can be difficult, but it is well worth the effort. By keeping things in perspective we can reduce the stress that we put on ourselves. Remember these ABC's and you'll go far in your work-at-home career.

Christian Businesses From Home: ABCs for the Work at Home Mom

Christian Businesses From Home: ABCs for the Work at Home Mom
By: Jill Hart
Work-at-home moms face many different challenges. From learning to accept help when needed, to building confidence in ourselves, to remembering the reasons why we chose to work from home. Below is the first in a series of tips to help work-at-home moms in the simplest of ways – the ABC’s.

A = Adjustments. A work at home mom must expect the unexpected. She must be prepared to adjust her schedule at any given moment for any number of reasons - a sick child, a backed up drain, or an upset client. A mom who learns to welcome these moments as a chance to show love to her family and concern for her clients will be ahead of the game in the end. Approach these "interruptions" with a great attitude and see what a difference it makes.

B = Better. Works at Home Moms have to be on top of their game. To run a business as well as manage a household takes determination and scheduling. You may not feel like you have a schedule, but take a look at your day/week and see how you are spending your time. Next, think about what you can do better, what you can delegate and what would be better off removed from your schedule to allow you to spend your time in a better manner.

C = Confidence. You wouldn't be a work at home mom without it. Take time to celebrate each success no matter how minute it may seem. Each success will help grow your confidence and turn you into a savvier businesswoman.

D = Dry - Don't let things dry up. Keep content fresh, offer new products and services whenever possible. This will keep you motivated and keep customer returning.

E = Effort - Don't kid yourself. It takes a TON of effort to make a home-based business successful. Don't give up with thing get rough. Keep plugging away - it will pay off

F = Feisty - Every work at home mom has to be at least a tad bit feisty. :) Stand up for your business when need be - don't be afraid to say no when necessary.

G = Generosity - When I fist began my business I sought advice from many successful work-at-home moms. One of the best pieces of advice I received was that what I gave to others would come back tenfold. I've found that to be very true. Helping others is as much a blessing to me as it is to others.

H = Help - There will come a time that you’ll need help. You must be willing to accept it, to allow others to do for you what you cannot. In turn, try to be a help to other when they are in need.

I = If - If you don’t do it, who will? Mothering is such an important role that gets overlooked so often these days. Always remember that being there for your children is the BEST gift you can ever give them.

J = “Just for you” - Take a little time to do something just for you each day. Even 5 minutes of doing something you enjoy can revive a tired mommy.

K = Keep - Keep your chin up. It will get better. Don’t let a lag in business growth get you down. Find some creative ways to get the ball rolling again.

L = Laugh - Take time to laugh with you kids each day. And don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself when need be.

M = Mommy - Remember, the reason you do all that you do is for those little ones who call you "Mommy."

Working from home can be difficult, but it is well worth the effort. By keeping things in perspective we can reduce the stress that we put on ourselves. Remember these ABC’s and you’ll go far in your work-at-home career.

Christian Businesses From Home: The Two Most Important Commandments – Love

Christian Businesses From Home: The Two Most Important Commandments – Love
By: Lara Velez
Love is mentioned well over 350 times in the Bible. I'm sure God must be trying to tell us something. We will start our study with Matthew 22:37-38; And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the most important and first commandment.

I am sure that we have all heard this verse many times in our Christian lives. But, do we really get it? How do we love God? Why should we love God? Let's explore How to love God today, and tomorrow we'll get into why.

How Do We Love Him?

It is very simply stated by Jesus in John 14:15, If you really love me, you will keep (obey) my commands. As simple as it sounds....it seems to be a very difficult task....or is it? Well, yes and no. If we study the Word, get it into our hearts and minds; it is easier to submit to the Holy Spirit...

However, when we fill our minds with the world, i.e.,

Soap Operas - which encourage adultery, lust, impurity, fornication, lies, deceit, and many other sinful desires.

I struggled with these for years. I didn't just watch one...not even just one channel. I would watch one channel and tape another. I was watching six different daytime dramas and several evening ones. I eventually cut back and convinced myself that was good enough. But, no, God wanted me to lay them all down. My mind had become so absorbed with this unrealistic, ungodly world. I didn't want to let go. Of course I eventually did...not without a fight though. The enemy was on full attack mode when I decided to submit to the Lord (obey His commands). I kid you not my TV would just turn on at the precise moment, my VCR would start taping when I didn't set it to, and the grocery store checkout...It was ugly. I didn't give up...and now I am FREE!

Entertainment Magazines - which are filled with gossip, wrong information, slander, hurtful situations in human lives, and really none of our business anyway. These were another stronghold in my life. My favorite was In Touch...or like my husband used to call it, "in touch with the devil." LOL. Let me tell you, I loved these things. I had to know who was cheating on whom, and what this one said about that one....I'm sure there are some of you who know exactly what I am talking about.

Guess what? God wanted these put down too. My flesh fought hard. Honestly, I still have to catch myself. Those grocery store checkout lines are filled with them...I try hard not to even look at them. I am happy to say that I no longer buy them...or even touch them.

Secular Music - which is mostly provocative lyrics, self, and worldly principals.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that every non-Christian song is sinful. I'm saying be careful what goes in. It will come out. The Bible says in Galatians 6:7 that we reap what we sow. If we sow junk into our minds we will reap junk. If your searching through the stations looking for a good song to listen to...make sure it is good for your spirit not your flesh.

These examples are ones many Christian women face. You may be thinking I have gone too far...I don't know what I'm talking about. Yes, I do. I know because the Word tells me so.

In I John 2:15 it says, Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. if anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life or stability of earthly things - these do not come from the Father, but are from the world itself. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides forever.

Why Should We Love Him?

I'm sure this would seem like an obvious answer. Yet, I think it is important that we really understand the depth of the answer. Why do we or why should we love God? Well, there are more answers to this question then could be answered in a lifetime. But, I will give the best answer I can...

- HE IS INCOMPARABLE. THERE IS NONE LIKE HIM: II Samuel 7:22 says; Therefore You are great, O Lord God; for none is like You, nor is there any God besides You... No other religion has a God like ours. HE IS!

- HIS WAYS ARE PERFECT. HE IS PERFECT: Psalm 18:30 says; As for God, His way is perfect!

- HE IS OUR ROCK AND SHIELD: Psalm 18:30-31 says; ...He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him. For who is God except the Lord? Or who is the Rock save our God? It says it right there...if we will take refuge...He will shield us. How many of us actually take refuge in Him?

- HE IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS: This is covered in Genesis 1. Isaiah 40:12, 22 & 26 as well as countless other verses. What other God created the Universe?

- HE IS EVERLASTING: Habakkuk 3:6 says; He stood and measured the earth; He looked and shook the nations, and the eternal mountains were scattered and the perpetual hills bowed low. His ways are everlasting and His goings are of old.

- HE IS JUST, TRUE, MIGHTY AND SOVEREIGN: Revelation 15:3 says; ...Mighty and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God the Omnipotent! Just and true are Your ways, O Sovereign of the ages. Sing that for a while and you'll feel His presence all around you.

- HE IS MY STRENGTH AND MY SONG: When I am weak I know I can count on Him to be my Strength. Exodus 15:2 says; The Lord is my Strength and my Song....Keep reading that chapter alone for many reasons to love Him.

- HE LOVED US FIRST: I John 4:19 says; We love Him, because He first loved us.

- HE IS OMNIPOTENT (ALL-POWERFUL): Jeremiah 32:17 says; Alas, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by Your outstretched arm! There is nothing too hard for you.

- HE IS OMNIPRESENT (EVER-PRESENT): Read Psalm 139:7-12. He is always here...He is always there. You are never alone. What other "god" can say that?

- HE IS OMNISCIENCE (ALL-KNOWING): I John 3:20 says; ...For He is above and greater than our consciences (our hearts), and He knows and understands everything, nothing is hidden from Him.

These aren’t even the tip of the iceberg...There is not enough time or words to tell all the reasons to love our God. He is The Great I Am, The King of Kings, The Lord of Lords, Jehovah-jireh (my Provider), Jehovah-nissi (He reigns in victory), Jehovah-shalom (my Peace), God Almighty, Heavenly Father, Abba (Father), Holy, Loving, Kind, Gentle, Patient, Worthy, Good, Gracious.....

Do you see what I mean? I really could go on forever.

There is however, another area of "Why" that I would like to talk about...

HIS GOODNESS

Oh, yes, the Lord is Good. I can think of countless situations in my life where His goodness, (manifested in compassion, mercy, and forgiveness) brought me out of very dark places. You should take some time to meditate every day on the goodness He has shown to you in your life.

No time? Yes, there is. In the shower, driving here and there, as you lay in bed, blow drying your hair, putting make up on, cooking dinner, washing dishes, get up earlier, go to bed later, and right now. We say, “we don't have time." Yes, we do. We should always find time to think about the goodness of God and praise His Holy Name!

The Bible has many Scriptures on the Goodness of God. I have listed a few of my favorites.

Titus 3:4-6 ...when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man appeared, He saved us, not because of any righteousness that we had done, but because of His own pity and mercy...

Psalm 31:19 Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear, revere, and worship You. Goodness which You have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before the sons of men!

Acts 14:17 Yet He did not neglect to leave some witness of Himself, for He did you good and showed you kindness and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with nourishment and happiness.

Psalm 145:7-9 They shall pour forth like a fountain the fame of Your great and abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of Your rightness and justice. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works, the entirety of His creation.

Psalm 86:5 For You, O Lord, are good, and ready to forgive our trespasses, letting them go completely and forever; and You are abundant in mercy and loving-kindness to all those who call upon You.

And let's not forget the Israelites in the Book of Exodus. They wandered around the desert for forty years...griping, complaining, unthankful, and unfaithful. Yet, our loving and merciful God still fed them every day, kept them safe, and even prevented their shoes from aging!

God is GOOD! We should never forget His goodness. If we would just reflect on His goodness in our lives and the Scriptures...we would have a whole lot more peace.

At the beginning of this study, I gave you our foundation Scripture Matthew 22:37-38. In it Jesus was telling a lawyer about two commandments. The first was what we have been discussing.

I would like to end this study with the second commandment that Jesus gave in Matthew 22:39; And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as you do yourself.

I don't know about you...but...that is a very hard thing to do. It is not impossible though. We have to choose to Love.

Other Christians can be very difficult to love...for a variety of reasons that I am sure you are aware of. Yet in the book of John, Jesus tells us why it is important to love each other. John 13:34-35 says; I give you a new commandment; that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you love one another [If you keep on showing love among yourselves].

Jesus doesn't just mean our brothers and sisters in the Lord...He means our enemies too. In Matthew 5:44 Jesus said, ...Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. But wait...He goes even further in Luke 6:27-28; But I say to you who are listening now to me: Make it a practice to love your enemies, treat well (do good to, act nobly toward) those who detest you and pursue you with hatred. Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of those who curse you, implore God's favor upon those who abuse you and misuse you.

WHEW...those are some pretty strong words. This is no easy task. Let's go deeper...

WHAT IS LOVE?

I'm sure you've heard it and/or read it...

I Corinthians 13:4-8 - Love endures long and is patient and kind; love is never envious nor boils over with jealousy, it is not boastful and does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited; it is not rude and does not act unbecomingly. Love (GOD'S LOVE IN US) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails...

There really isn't anything more I can add. God has explained "what" love is thoroughly. The next question would be...how?

HOW DO WE LOVE?

In part one of this study we learned that the Scriptures tell us that if we love God...we will keep His commandments. Well, this is one of His commandments. Obviously, we don't just snap our fingers and suddenly have the kind of love described in I Corinthians. It comes gradually over time as we study and learn His Word (His ways). The Word says that God is Love in I John 4:16. So, if we pour enough of God into our lives and spirits...we will automatically love more like He loves. It is what naturally happens as we submit our lives to Him and His will. We grow the "fruit" of love.

We cannot beat ourselves up when we fail. The enemy would love that. We must press on. Make it a point to read I Corinthians 13 as often as you can. Get it in you. And PRAY!

Christian Businesses From Home: Earning Your Pay

Christian Businesses From Home: Earning Your Pay
By: Alyssa Dees Avant
Honestly Earning Your Pay

The Bible says, “Money is the root of all evil.” Maybe this is why many Christians in business today have a hard time charging for their services. As Christians, we sometimes feel that we are doing something wrong when we charge higher fees to complete work for our clients. However, God invented work, and therefore he believes that we should work and receive a wage for our work. After all, they did it in the Bible. Do you not recall the stories of the farmers paying the field workers?

God invented all of these concepts so he must agree that we should receive payment for what we do. Therefore, do not feel guilty for charging your clients for the services that you provide to them, as long as you are providing high quality work that you can be proud of, and that is not taking from your clients in any way what you do not deserve.

Other than that, you should not feel guilty in billing what you are worth. Decide what your time is worth, what your services are worth, and bill accordingly. Then, strive to put out high quality work, and you might even want to go beyond that. A popular concept is to “under promise and over deliver.” Meaning promise that the work will be done, say, “by the end of the week”, however deliver early, therefore over delivering on your promise. This will impress your clients and most likely win you repeat customers.

Being paid is apart of our lives. What is important is that we value the money that we receive correctly. Respecting that our clients had to earn the money, and remembering that we must give back to God a portion of what we earned. In everything that we do including the way by which you go about earning your wage you should be striving to honor God.

If you do this, you will surely not be guilty of allowing money to take the part of evil in your life.

Christian Businesses From Home: Five Reasons to Have Good Content

Christian Businesses From Home: Five Reasons to Have Good Content
By: Filoiann M. Wiedenhoff
Lately I have been hearing a lot about having good content on your website from the business experts, I’ve been studying up on this very thing and have also seen other companies that are applying it and I have to agree that having good content does make all the difference in the world. I’m still working on building mine but came up with reasons I learned from the experts and so I’ll share them with you.

Here are five reasons why we need good content and how to get it.

1. It Establishes You: Good content should reveal you or your company as an expert. When people are convinced that you know what you are talking about and are an expert in your field it gives you creditability and establishes you as a professional. Share your credentials, your experience in the field or how you have succeeded using the product or service.

2. It Distinguishes You: It makes you stand out from all the rest of the competition. Good content will give your potential customers reasons why they should buy from you and also why they should trust you. Be personable and helpful that you’re not just out to get their money but really care for their success in using your product or service by giving them tips and free information to succeed.

3. It Sells Your Product: Another important reason to have good content is to sell your product or service. The biggest marketing tip online is to pre-sell your product before they even look at it. Pre-Selling is not a gimmick or hype but well written content that tells the reader and potential customer what the product can do and why they need it. It prepares the reader to not just be interested in what you are selling but ready to buy. One way is to share testimonials on how others have succeeded or benefited by your product and how they can too. Just the honest facts.

4. It Brings Returning Customers: Try having a subscriber list and create a newsletter that your client’s can stay in touch with you and build a report with them on the latest tips and trends in regards to your product or service. Auto-responder emails are also great for free give-a-ways and hottest tips. You can also add other articles from outside sources to help you provide good info.

5. It Brings Happy Customers: One of the best reasons to have good content is that it can bring you returning, happy and satisfied customers back weekly or monthly, It’s a win-win situation for both the business owner and the client. One last idea is once you get a good clientele base you could start your own message board for the clients to get to know each other and also for them to know you and answer any questions they may have. Building a community of people together that have the same interests and services and products will keep them coming back for more because they can encourage each other.

I’m going to re-iterate that market researchers have shown that a high percentage of successful online home businesses are more personable and helpful in aiding to the client’s success by newsletters, updates, mailing lists, latest marketing tips, and how-to success steps, informative articles and message boards. Good content is about keeping the client well informed, providing for their needs and wants and communicating and touching base with them periodically.

Warning, be careful not to overload them. I receive some auto-responder emails from people that send me an email almost every day. That truthfully turns people off and needs to be avoided. They say by the seventh email you have a purchaser and that is true for the most part but if the person has already purchased your product a bi-monthly or monthly newsletter or update letter is sufficient. We want to keep our customers, not drive them away.

Well hopefully these tips have given you some food for thought and will help you in your work at home endeavors.

Blessings,

Christian Businesses From Home: Are You Really in Business?

Christian Businesses From Home: Are You Really in Business?
By: Denise Willms
"If you're not in business to make money, you're not really in business at all."

The speaker was a successful businessperson whom I admire, and I have learned many sound business principles from her over time, but that one sentence just didn't sit right with me. Everything inside me told me this time she was wrong.

I couldn't collect my thoughts fast enough to respond immediately, but her words have stayed with me. I’ve since spent many hours thinking about why I'm really in business. Can I be a successful businesswoman if making money is not my primary goal?

Perhaps it sounds naive and idealistic, but I'm not in business to make money. It's something I expect to gain from my hard work, but it's not my main motivator. I can't escape what the Bible says about the pursuit of riches, particularly:

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)

So why am I in business? Here are some of the reasons on my list:

* Build God-honoring relationships with people who share my interests
* Help these same people reach their goals
* Develop and use my unique set of God-given talents and skills
* Be creative

I do know that money matters. It pays my bills, fills my fridge and clothes my children. But I don't need to pursue it. If I pursue a relationship with my Lord Jesus first and build up my treasures in Heaven, He will look after me here on earth. His way of providing for my needs may not always be exactly what I think it should, but that’s only because He’s so much wiser than I am.

So am I still in business? You bet.

When I look at my list of reasons for being in business I realize that if I focus on these, I'll have a unique service or product that is valuable to people I've developed strong relationships with, and that I'm dedicated to maintaining and improving. Better still, I’m honoring my Lord and His call on my life.

Sounds like the ingredients for a successful business to me.

Christian Businesses From Home: Yes, Mom You Should Set Goals

Christian Businesses From Home: Yes, Mom You Should Set Goals
By: Alyssa Dees Avant
Sometimes as moms, we get the crazy idea that because we have become responsible for the lives of precious little children, that we should focus solely on them and leave our own thoughts and ideas for ourselves behind. This should not be the case. We as moms should be true to ourselves, use the passions and gifts that God has given us and set some goals for ourselves.

These goals will not only benefit us, as people, but also our families as well. Its kind of like the old saying, “If momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.” Naturally, our children, husbands, families and others around us will benefit from us taking care of ourselves and doing things that will help us to feel more productive and successful.

The Lord also expects us to use the gifts that he has given us. He tells us in Scripture that without every part of the body of Christ functioning at its best it will not work. If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

“The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
1 Corinthians 12:19-27

This scripture passage makes it clear why it is so important for us to use what God has given us. He gave us those gifts and abilities so we can function as a part of the body of Christ, and that includes our families. We have a responsibility to our families to do our part. Part of that is setting goals for not only us but for our families as well.
So, mom, how about you setting some goals? Here are a few tips to get you started:

Family goals can include your marriage, your children, or the whole family. They can be fun or serious. Fun goals might be to save money for a vacation, or to have family night every Saturday night, while goals that are more serious might include paying off debt or seeking to improve your marriage.

Then you will also want to set some individual goals just for you. There are probably things you have put on the backburner or put off doing altogether because you have become a mom, why not take one of those things to focus on a year and make it happen.

Whether the goals are for your family or for you, it will be so fulfilling to make them a reality. Of course, once one goal is accomplished it is time to set a new one and begin working to achieve it. It is a never-ending process that you and your family can always benefit from, so keep it up.

Christian Businesses From Home: Sharing the Good News of Easter with Your Customers

Christian Businesses From Home: Sharing the Good News of Easter with Your Customers
By: Denise Willms
It's almost Easter, every chocoholic's favorite time of year. To the Christian, though, Easter has even greater significance.

Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after His death on the cross. Because of the resurrection, we have proof that Jesus really was the Son of God and that He had conquered death once and for all. Without Easter, Jesus would be just another prophet or great teacher.

I feel comfortable writing about the importance of Easter in this particular article. My audience is likely to be other Christians or people who are interested in Christianity. If you're a Christian business owner who serves mostly Christians, you probably find it easy to talk or write about your faith with them, too.

For most of us, though, our customers aren’t necessarily of the Christian faith. If that's your situation, is it possible to share to Easter's Good News with the people you serve each day?

Is it even desirable to do so?

Many entrepreneurs and experts believe that there is no place for faith in a business. If that's your belief, I respectfully disagree.

I believe God wants to be intimately involved in every area of your life, and your business is no exception. Why would a God who takes the time to count the hairs on your head because you’re so interesting to Him (Luke 12:7) suddenly lose interest when it comes to something as important to you as your business?

Before Jesus left the earth and ascended to Heaven, he gave us the Great Commission: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..." (Matthew 28:19 - NIV) As a business person, you don’t have to go very far to find "all nations." They’re regularly coming right to your door, your voicemail or your website.

Every day you communicate and build relationships with people who need Jesus as much as you and I do. For some, you may be the only Christian they know. For these reasons, I believe it's not only important for Christian business owners to share their faith, but also an act of obedience to God.

Now, I’m not suggesting that you go out and preach to your clients or start slipping religious tracts into your direct mail outs. But there are easy, non-confrontational ways to begin sharing your faith, and Easter is an easy time to start.

According to ReligionLink.org http://www.religionlink.org/tip_040309a.php, polls show Easter has the highest church attendance of the year. People who normally don’t attend church or who don't see a need for God in their daily lives, recognize that Easter is somehow important. You can build on that feeling by helping to them reflect a tiny bit more or a little longer on the importance of Easter. Remember, you’re not out to convert anyone. I've often been reminded that we can't convert anyone, only God can. Our job is only to make ourselves available for God’s work.

Your business blog might be the perfect place to being sharing God's love this Easter. Blog posts tend to be a little personal, and are often used to help your audience get to know you. If you have a blog, write a post about your plans for the Easter holiday and talk about the Easter service you’ll be attending. Share briefly why Easter is important to you.

You can do the same thing in your newsletter, or just send a friendly e-mail or note, thanking your customers for their business this year and wishing them a happy Easter. Tell them how you'll be celebrating.

True, it's always possible someone may be offended by even a brief mention of your religious beliefs, but I have found that doesn'’t usually happen. More often, they will just politely ignore it so long as it's not "preachy" or "in their face," meaning, not easily ignored if they choose to do that.

If you're not used to sharing your faith publicly, sharing it with your business associates and clients can feel really scary. Begin by praying about your business and asking God how He would like you to share your relationship with Him, and for His wisdom in doing so.

Even if you already share your faith regularly, it's a good idea to pray about what God would like you to share with your customers this Easter. After all, He has counted all the hairs on their heads, too.

Christian Businesses From Home: Praying for Your Clients and Colleagues

Christian Businesses From Home: Praying for Your Clients and Colleagues
By: Denise Willms
Possibly the most effective way to share God’s love through your home business is by doing something your clients and colleagues might never see you do. It won't happen in an email, a newsletter, a phone call, or at your next meeting. It won't show up on your timesheet, your FAQ page, or your business proposal.

Your clients and others you work with may never even know you do this for them. If they did know, they might tell you not to bother – you're just wasting your time. In fact, they might even ask you to stop.

However, the results of this one action could have a dramatic impact on their lives and businesses.

You might have guessed that I'm talking about prayer.

I'm one of those people who pray about everything – small or big. I pray I'll find a parking stall in a busy lot. I ask for enough space to merge my minivan into a heavy lane of traffic. I pray for the success of my business, prosperity for my family, and that my children will learn to love Jesus as passionately as I do. Every day I pray that my life will be a blessing to others.

I believe the Bible when it says "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." (John 5:16) I know it's true. I've seen the life-changing power of prayer in my own life and in the lives of those close to me.

Praying for my own needs is easy. Praying for others, especially others I don’t know well, is a little more difficult. Their needs just aren't as obvious to me. Sometimes, I don’t know exactly how to pray for them. I'll probably never know what results my prayers had in their lives. So why bother?

One event in my life has convinced me that, in spite of my own doubts and selfishness, it is definitely worth my time and energy to pray for those I meet in my business. Even though I don't know exactly what to pray, and I may never know what results my prayers had, it doesn’t make those prayers any less effective.

A few years ago, a close family member was hospitalized with a chronic illness. He spent almost a full year in one of our local hospitals. Because of space and staff shortages, he was moved to different wards several times.

One ward stood out from all the others. It was as old as the rest of the building. It had the same paint, but its walls were a little brighter; same windows, but more light; same ventilation system, but fresher air. We were fighting the same disease, and for some inexplicable reason, we felt more peace while we were on this ward.

My family didn't understand how one part of the hospital could be so different from all the rest until we met the Patient Care Manager for this ward. She told us she began each day by praying for every single patient in that ward by name.

"Do you know how long that takes?" she laughed.

Probably a really long time. But I was very grateful she took that time each morning. Suddenly the cleaner air, the brighter rooms, and the indescribable peace all made sense to me. I believe it was her prayers that made that difference and made her ward a more pleasant place to be.

She couldn't possibly have known the difference her prayers made in her patients' lives while they were in her care and after they went home, but she was convinced it made a difference all the same. And she was right.

Your prayers can make a difference in the lives of your clients and business colleagues as well. If you're not sure how to start praying for them, here's a quick guide.

Begin by making a list of all your current clients and people you regularly have contact with for your business. If that's too long of a list to start with, break it down into smaller lists so you can pray for one list of names each day.

Set aside time each day to pray for each name on your list. Early morning works best for my prayer time, before the kids get up and I get involved in my business day. Choose a time that works with your schedule. You may need to get up a bit earlier or go to bed a bit later to fit it in.

Here are some ways you can pray for those on your list. Ask God to reveal any other ways He would like you to pray for them.

* The success of their business
* That they will experience God's love that day
* Their, and their family's safety
* That they will develop their own personal relationship with Jesus, if they haven't already

Do I know how much time this takes? Yes, I do. But I also know it's time well spent. The prayer of a righteous work-at-home-mom is powerful and effective.

Christian Businesses From Home: Dealing with Worry and Stress

Christian Businesses From Home: Dealing with Worry and Stress
By: Filoiann M. Wiedenhoff
Have you been worried or stressed over something that is starting to affect you in more ways than one? There are many reasons we can easily be stressed or worried such as our finances, our relationships, our work; you name it and the worse part is it never seems to go away.

You are not alone, life in itself has enough worries of it's own, even in Matthew chapter 6 it says not to worry about tomorrow for tomorrow has enough worries for itself. I want to encourage you that there is hope for your situation and that your worries can be turned into peace if you will heed God's word about this very normal and common dilemma. Let's look at what God's word says about this:

1. Do not worry: Telling someone not to worry is easier said than done. Take comfort in that Jesus understands what you are going through and shares in Matthew that we should not worry because our Heavenly Father is faithful to provide for His children. (Read Matthew 6:25-30)

2. Pray your Petitions to God: Taking our worries and concerns to God can be the best thing you could ever do. The bible says to come to Him and make your requests known to God with assurance that He hears the cries of His children. (Read Phillipians 4;6-7)

3. Come to Jesus: When we are at our worst God is at His best, come to Christ and allow Him to take your burdens and lighten your load. You can be honest with God in prayer, vent to Him, cry to Him and then ask God to take your burdens and believe that He is faithful and He will do it.(Read Matthew Read 11:28-30 )

4. Cast Your Cares Upon Him: Cast means to cast off or take off and in this passage it means to cast off your cares to Him, give them over to God and allow him to take them from you, because He cares for you. (Read 1 Peter 5:7)

5. Stay Focused on Him: As you are giving your burdens over to God you can now re=focus your mind and heart back onto Him and off of your troubles, trusting that God is going to take care of you. When you do you will receive His peace in return. (Read Isaiah 26; 3)

6. Trust Him: Remember that the bible says that Jesus is our peace, and we can put our trust in Him to not only take our burdens but to carry them. Once you give them over to God be sure that you don't take them back. Put it in His capable hands and leave it there!
(Isaiah 26:4 )

Trust in Him that He is faithful and that He will do it. Release it to God and then praise Him and thank Him for being so good to you. God is sovereign, He is still on the throne and in total control. Allow Him to be on the throne of your heart and He will give you much peace in return and so much more.

Personal Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
When I am worried or stressed, help me to take my eyes off of my situation and re-focus back on you. Help me to trust you and give you my burdens and not take them up again and fill me with your peace that transcends all understanding so that I can rest again and be refreshed. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayers because you care for me. Amen

Christian Businesses From Home: Christians In Business The Importance Of Integrity

Christian Businesses From Home: Christians In Business The Importance Of Integrity
By: Marcia Chumbley
The importance of integrity for Christians in business. One of the most obvious characteristics of a Christian in business should be integrity. Unfortunately, too many Christian business owners and Christian employees fall into the commonly accepted trap of "graying" the line between right and wrong. If you're a Christian in business, and you're concerned about what kind of witness you make for Jesus, you'll want to closely guard the level of integrity in your life, both at home and in the marketplace.

According to Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia - http://en.wikipedia.org - integrity is "the basing of one's actions on an internally consistent framework of principles." This means that living with integrity ensures that everything you do and believe is "based on the same core set of values."

What are our core values as Christians? There are many we could choose, but the Ten Commandments give us a good starting point. Put God first. Don't take the Lord's name in vain. Don't lie, steal, commit adultery, etc.

So, to live with integrity means that--if you believe it's wrong to steal--you NEVER steal. Not even a pencil from the office supply cabinet at work, or an added hour of time from your client. Or if you believe it's wrong to lie, you NEVER lie. Not even a "little white lie" as to why you missed your latest deadline or why you came into work late *again.* (This doesn't mean you have to be so brutally honest you hurt someone's feelings by telling her that her new haircut really looks horrible!) Or if you believe you shouldn't use the Lord's name in vain, you NEVER use the Lord's name in vain. Not even when someone makes you really angry. It means that you do what is right because it's right... even it's uncomfortable, or even painful, for you.

For Christians, living with integrity is absolutely essential. Integrity ensures you have a solid witness with your family, friends and business associates. Integrity gives you credibility in all areas of your life. And integrity is what will help convince your non-Christian friends and loved ones of your sincerity when you share the gospel with them.

Are you living with integrity? Here are a few examples of what "lagging" integrity looks like.

Do you ever...
* "borrow" money or supplies from an employer or client?
* "forget" to include some of the income you earned on your tax return?
* take longer lunch periods than you're allowed without permission or charge a client for time not actually worked?
* pad your expense report with unauthorized charges?
* use a company-assigned vehicle for personal use?

If you see any of these actions in your own life, begin immediately to correct those behaviors. Allowing your integrity to falter in even the smallest aspect of your personal or business life harms your Christian witness among your clients, co-workers, family and friends. Not to mention the hurt it brings to our Heavenly Father.

Christian Businesses From Home: A Business Plan That is God's Perfect Plan

Christian Businesses From Home: A Business Plan That is God's Perfect Plan
By: Alyssa Dees Avant
Do you have a business plan? Did you have to write one of those pesky things when starting your business? Maybe you wrote it to obtain a loan or maybe you wrote it just because someone advised you to as it is smart for anyone starting a business right?

Well, the thing about it is as Christians we can plan, but God ultimately should direct our steps. “In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9, NIV) It is so true we can plan all we want but ultimately God makes the decisions and God’s plan is perfect. However, are you open to God’s perfect plan? Or are you trying to do it all on your own, laying out your own blueprint, following your own path, never thinking of God’s prodding or plotting, maneuvering or miracle working?

God can do all of these he can even move mountains. But, what does it require from us? Faith, the Bible says, “if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20, NIV)

That’s where our part comes in, and our part is having faith. For faith “is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1, NIV) Can you trust in that which you cannot see? Try it and see what God does, as he reveals his perfect plan for you, which is greater than any blueprint you could sketch or plan you could create.

The greatest thing about God’s plan is that it is unique and perfect for your situation. God works out the details specific to you and knows exactly what you need when you need it. You might think he’s coming in behind schedule, but He knows He’s right on time. He is only asking that you trust Him, and allow Him to work.

So, as you go back to the “drawing board” if you’re still in the process of writing your business plan. Or maybe you are just beginning, or even if you’re already finished and in the process of giving yourself a yearly review, check to see that God is in there somewhere guiding you and showing you what you should be doing both in business and in life. Put God in charge, and see how far He will take you.

Christian Businesses From Home: WARNING: Praying God’s Promises Makes Things Happen

Christian Businesses From Home: WARNING: Praying God’s Promises Makes Things Happen
By: Nicole Calhoun
I’m excited to share this with you, today. Why? Because when I see something working in my own life, I share it with others in hopes that they will enjoy the same success that I have. I mean, if something works for one person, shouldn’t it work for another if they do the same things?

That has been my experience, thus far, so I take great joy in sharing what I have to share. We all go through our fair share of ups and downs in life. We go through times of confusion and times of despair. We’ve all experienced desperate times of doubts and frustration.

But the good news is being a child of God has unique advantages! We live in a fallen world, so there will always be times that our faith and belief will be tested. But it’s in those times that our character is built and we’re made stronger in our faith.

But, I want to share something with you that God has been teaching me in my personal life that has had some amazing results that have built my confidence in Him to heights I never dreamt imaginable!

And that is praying God’s promises (His word from the Bible) back to Him makes things happen! I can’t tell you how uplifting and how dramatic the changes in my life have been because of it.

I don’t care what you’re going through at this point in time. There is a promise in God’s word that will help you work through it and most of the time, give you directions on how to get out of it! That’s good news!

I want to share a few verses of scripture with you to show that I’m not making this up. God really desires that we ask Him for what we want, because if it’s His will for us, He desires to give it to us just as badly as we want it!

There are three that I believe will do the trick.

First, there’s Isaiah 55:10-11 that says, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
If God promises that His word will accomplish what He desires for it to do, you can bank on the fact that if you find a promise in His word and apply it to your life, that He will do it for you!

Secondly, there’s beautiful James 1:5- 8 that reads: “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.”
God promises that if we ask, believing and not doubt, that he would give us what we ask for. So ask Him for your heart’s desires, so that God can show you that He loves to give good gifts to His children!

And last, but certainly not least – 1 John 5:14-15 that states “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

If you’re like me, you’re probably jumping up and down shouting “Hallelujah!” You see, it’s not that we should think that just because we ask for a new car or a new home, or a million bucks that He’s just going to give it to us.
He’s not like that. He’s not a genie in a bottle, at our beck-and-call. Just like any good father would give gifts to his children that he knew they were ready for and could handle, God is no different…that’s why it says, “if we ask anything according to His will”.

But just having that loving reassurance really makes me love Him all the more.

So I tell you to be confident in the things you ask God for. Peruse His word, find His great and precious promises and start to pray them over your life and those you care for (and even those you don’t). Your life will never be the same!

Christian Businesses From Home: Are You Too Busy for God?

Christian Businesses From Home: Are You Too Busy for God?
By: Lara Velez
Recently, my husband pointed out something to me that I am not proud to admit. Basically, my priorities are off. Lately, I have been too busy for God. Life has gotten in the way of my special time with Daddy. I must tell you, I was NOT a happy camper when hubby pointed this out to me. I immediately got on the defensive. My flesh was extremely uncomfortable with this all too true topic.

I have been too busy for God. Can you relate?

I mean we are not the only busy people on the planet. We are not the only busy people who are God's children.

Busy People...

Moses

Can you imagine being Moses? He went from living in the palace to having to help set his people free to dealing with these ungrateful people.

His days were busier than ours can ever be. He had He had a pharaoh chasing him, millions of murmurers and complainers to contend with, and a desert to wander because of the ungrateful lot he was with!

Now Moses used to take [his own] tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting [of God with His own people]. And everyone who sought the Lord went out to [that temporary] tent of meeting which was outside the camp. When Moses went out to the tent of meeting, all the people rose and stood, every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses until he had gone into the tent. When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the door of the tent, and the Lord would talk with Moses. And all the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the tent door, and all the people rose up and worshiped, every man at his tent door.

And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Moses returned to the camp, but his minister Joshua son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the [temporary prayer] tent. - Exodus 33:7-11

Moses took time to go and seek God. He MADE time to spend with the Lord. However, notice the last verse...Joshua stayed in the tent. Hmm....maybe we can all learn something from Joshua here...let us not be so quick to leave Daddy's presence or put him in a little box of time. He may have more planned for our time with him....

David

He was the king of Israel. He had tons of responsibilities and battles to fight. He was a very busy man. As busy as he was, he longed for God. He wanted nothing more than to be in the Lord's presence.

O GOD, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

My whole being shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips

When I remember You upon my bed and meditate on You in the night watches.

For You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice.

My whole being follows hard after You and clings closely to You; Your right hand upholds me.

But those who seek and demand my life to ruin and destroy it shall [themselves be destroyed and] go into the lower parts of the earth [into the underworld of the dead].

They shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be a prey for foxes and jackals.

But the king shall rejoice in God; everyone who swears by Him [that is, who binds himself by God's authority, acknowledging His supremacy, and devoting himself to His glory and service alone; every such one] shall glory, for the mouths of those who speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:1

WOW! Now that is a man who longs for God. As busy as David was with the business of life, He still made God the center. God was always in is heart and on his mind. Read the Psalms and you will see...

Paul

Paul was one of the leaders of the early church. He was a very busy man with a heavy burden to spread the Truth of God's love to the world. He was persecuted and in constant peril...yet, he sought God, and wanted to be with God.

But whatever former things I had that might have been gains to me, I have come to consider as loss for Christ's sake. Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish in order that I may win (gain) Christ,And that I may[actually be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law's demands, but possessing that which comes through faith in Christ, the truly right standing with God, which comes from God by saving faith. For my determined purpose i] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body]. - Philippians 3:7-11

Paul was a man who understood the TRUE meaning and purpose for life. He knew that without the Lord there was nothing. He knew that his life belonged to God and ONLY God.

Today's Body is quite busy. We have no time for God, ministry, reaching out to the lost, spending time in the Word, praising His Holy Name, or anything God related. We put Him in a little box and spend time with Him once or twice a week at church...but, is that enough? Is HE our beloved? Is Daddy our FIRST love? Is the Lord the center of our lives? Have we lost our focus?

Have we put other things (gods) before Him?

Business, television, riches, hobbies, work, children, activities, friendships, daily tasks, and the like can be gods in our lives. ANYTHING that we put before God is a hindrance to the most important aspect of our lives...a personal and deep growing relationship with the Creator of all things. If we delight more in the latest episode of a meaningless, most likely unhealthy, television show than spending time in the Word, we have a serious problem. We have put the television god before the One Who loves us like no other. The One Who laid down His very life for undeserving us.

I want to challenge you (and myself) to seek earnestly a deeper and closer walk with your Daddy in Heaven.

How?

- Put Him first

- Read the Word

- Memorize at least one Scripture a week

- Turn the television off

- Get up early

- Go to bed late

- Give up a hobby

- Make a schedule

- Listen to teaching tapes while driving

- Turn on praise music instead of TV or secular music

- Get more involved at church

- Volunteer

Pray about it and ask God to help you seek Him first and to show you how. Trust me, He loves you so very much and will be thrilled at the thought of spending time with His long lost friend! And, He is WORTH our time!

Let's Pray;

Daddy God, I love You. I delight in You. I want nothing more than to know you better. You are the reason I am alive. You are the reason I will spend eternity in paradise. You are the reason for every good thing. I love You. I adore You. I want You. I need You. Please reach deep into my heart and pull out anything and everything that is not pleasing to you. Reach in there and change my heart to be like You. Teach me to love. Help me to seek You first. Help me to find the time. Show me the areas in my life that I have made gods. Show me the things in my life that keep me from you and help me to be a balanced child. I love You. You are worthy of my time, my love, and my whole heart. You are an Awesome and Mighty God. You are my Daddy, my Source, my Strong Tower, my Love, my Refuge, my Everything. I love you, Daddy. In Jesus Mighty and Saving Name, Amen!

I have added some Scriptures to help get you started in God's life giving Word. You are a child of the King and He loves you very much...go on now, Daddy is waiting for you....
